Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:10-11
I believe in Joy. I think we need more of it, no matter how much you think you have already. Many religious people are at war with joy. They despise it. They do their best to stomp it out the moment it flickers.
The Bible says, "The joy of the Lord is our strength." I have found that to be true.
There are too many people who are angry, depressed, and stressed out. It doesn't matter if you go to church or not, if you read the Bible every day, or if you don't even own one. We're all the same. Too stressed. Too angry. Too sad. We need more joy!
The night Jesus was born, angels appeared singing of the good news that God had poured his love into human form! Love was made flesh and dwelt among us. And love's name was Jesus.
Joy without love is just ruckus. The love of God causes an outbreak of true joy, not just noise.
"In Your presence is fullness of joy!" (Psalm 16:11) Here's the kicker. God is omnipresent, therefore joy is omnipresent! That means joy is anywhere you want to find it! Anytime you want to find it.
Close your eyes. Smile. Take a deep breathe, and receive the joy of the Lord right now. Right where you are. He's not mad at you. He doesn't hate you. He loves you.
Joy to the world! One and all.
