Try Something New! You Might Just Like It.

Life is a sequence of changes. God is the only constant in the universe. So why not be the orchestrator of the changes in your life rather than the passive victim?

I will make several inexpensive suggestions of ways you can interject new experiences into you life. There is no need to reserve adventures to your vacation time. These are things you can do today to make your life more interesting.

If you embrace change easily, I recommend you do something small. Small, because I assume you make major changes on a regular basis. If you are usually opposed to changes, I recommend you do something big. Face your fear and step as far out of your box as you can.

Go to a restaurant you've never been to and order a meal you've never heard of before. Try a vegetable you didn't like as a kid, you may like it now that you're an adult. If you usually drink beer, order a glass of wine with dinner, or a cup of decaf coffee.

If you're a coffee drinker, try a cup of green tea instead.

Color your hair or add highlights. If you wear your hair in a ponytail, spend some extra time to curl it and wear it down.

If you never wear make-up, do it! If on the other hand, you usually spend 20 or 30 minutes doing your hair and make-up in the morning, spend that time in prayer and meditation. Go to work with your hair back and no make-up.

Men, wear a tie to work. If on the other hand, you usually wear a suit, try a polo shirt underneath a jacket.

Turn off the television and open a coloring book! Have a coloring contest with you and your kids or your partner. The winner gets a pedicure.

Put on your favorite CD and dance around the house in your underwear instead of listening to the nightly news.

Sign up for a library card. Check out some audio books. Listen to them on your commute to work in the morning. Why not learn a new language during that time?

Take a different route home. Purposely notice the homes and buildings along the way.

Apply for new jobs, even if your are fully satisfied with the job you have and have no worries of being downsized. Update your resume, and get new letters of recommendation. If nothing else, it tells your boss that you believe you are worth more than what they are currently paying you.

If you're single, flirt with someone who's not your "type." If your type worked, you wouldn't be single. So try something new. If you're a woman, ask the man out! Date someone who is a different race or a different size than you normally do.

Why go through all this trouble? The answer is why not? We often make our worlds so small that we miss out on all the exciting things that lie just outside our self-imposed walls. God has created a beautiful and exciting world and has given us all things to richly enjoy. So start enjoying.
